  • How do I join? Please check back for the next date to join.  Come to the first rehearsal at 6:30 pm on January 29, 630 pm for voice placement and see what we do! New members can join until February 12although coming on January 29 is more advantageous for you. After February 12,  the next opportunity to join will be in August 2019 for our fall season.
I majored in music (voice) in college years ago. It's been a while, however, since I've sung at all or performed with a group.
  • What is the level of expertise required to be in SDCS?   We are a group of women who simply love to sing and wish to give back to the community through song. We require that all members be able to blend effectively with other voices, sing on key, execute the musical nuances given by the director, and learn their individual parts. San Diego Choral Society consists of singers with varied levels of training and accomplishment. We welcome all women who love to sing and are committed to a strong musical experience.
  • Is there a fee for membership? Yes, dues for membership are $75 per season.
  • I don't know how to sight-read. How will I learn my part? You will be provided rehearsal recordings early in our rehearsal season. Each song will have your part loudest with the other parts in the background and is an excellent method of learning. And don't forget, that's what rehearsals are for. We're a relaxed and supportive group. If you're having a problem, speak out, ask the Director.
  • I am concerned about paying the dues. Can I pay over time? Yes. Please see Sandy Cresci, Treasurer, to work out a convenient payment schedule. You may pay in three installments.
  • I am unable to stand for a long time. Will we be required to stand for performances? Yes. We normally stand for our one hour-long concerts. However, it may be possible to make provisions for those who absolutely cannot stand.
  • How much commitment must I make to SDCS?  Membership in the San Diego Choral Society requires commitment. Although an occasional absence may be necessary, the quality of our performance depends on regular participation by each member. Everyone is expected to promptly attend every rehearsal and performances, if possible. Remember: each voice makes a unique contribution to our music. Your voice does make a difference.
  • When do we sing our concerts? Singout concerts are performed on some weeknights and weekends days or evenings in late November through mid-December.(Spring season, late April to late May). Our formal concert for the public will be June 1, 2019
at 7 pm at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1370 Euclid Ave, SD 92105. Please expect to attend. There will be an hors d'oeuvres and dessert celebration after the performance with prizes.
  • What do we wear for our concerts? We wear black and bling - little black dressy dresses, pants or skirts, all black, with lots of sparkly jewelry.
